Hotel Rooms

We officially have hotel rooms blocked off for the weekend of the wedding. There are 25 double non-smoking rooms available for August 28th and August 29th. Now the hotel has other rooms available if you prefer smoking or 1 king bed, etc. We can only block off 25 at the Days Inn free of charge.

These rooms will be available until August 7. Any rooms not reserved with names and credit card numbers by then will be released to the general public on a first come/first serve basis. When you call to make a reservation ask for a room out of the Decker-Schilling Wedding Block.

The hotel doesn’t block off a particular area of the hotel, they just setting aside a particular number of guest rooms that will be held specifically for our guests. If you want a pool side room let them know. If you want a room a close to the reception hall, let them know that as well. Otherwise, the manager assigns room numbers grouped together in an effort to keep the group in one area of the hotel.

If guests call after the block has been released, they cannot guarantee what room types will be available, or where those room types will be located within the hotel.

Since the rooms just recently were set aside for us, if you have already called and have a room reserved, it isn’t under this block. Please contact them again and make sure you are included in our group.

Contact phone number for the Days Inn is: 605.692.9471

Flowers Ordered

Believe it or not, when it comes to flowers Brookings doesn’t have a whole lot of options. There are the floral shops that charge you and arm and a leg for 2 roses or you can try and book someone out of town and then figure out how to keep them cool in August.
When I was asking around, people had nothing but good things to say not only about the prices at Hy-Vee, but also the flowers. They have good quality and reasonable prices. So, I called them up and met with the manager. I took along some examples of the colors I like and the flowers I would like to use, and she gets it.

She put together a bunch of green stuff and a couple of these flowers and those flowers, and I really liked it. Now we are just waiting on an estimate.

Here’s are some of the ideas I like…
