This weekend Randy and I will be going to Sioux Falls for a fun filled weekend of bonding. One of the requirements of being married in the Catholic Church is to participate in marriage counseling. The first step is a compatibility test. So a few months ago we met with several other couples and took the test. Once a week for the last month, we have been going over our test results with our priest.
Step 2 is a group session. We had our choice of 1 hour a week for 8 weeks on Thursday nights or a weekend retreat. With Randy’s traveling once a month, we knew that he would most likely be gone for one of those classes and we would be out of luck. If you don’t complete the counseling session in full, they will not marry you.
So we will be getting packed up and have to be in Sioux Falls by 8 am Saturday morning. The weekend consists of different training sessions to cover the topics of us as individuals, us as a couple, us in relationship to others. Snack breaks, lunch, and dinner will be provided, and Saturday goes until 10 pm. Then we start bright and early again Sunday morning 8 am. Sunday isn’t quite as long, we only go until 3 pm.
I will report back next week and let everyone know how we did.
